Inspired by Kitchens//

Happy Monday everyone! So, I’ve been mad inspired by kitchens lately. I don’t know if it’s the anxious feeling I get wanting my own kitchen to make beautiful, or the fact that I’ve been helping meet with clients and I get so many ideas in my head for their own kitchens, either way, people of Pinterest I apologize for all the posts!

I wanted to put some design boards together, similar to what I did for Arhaus of different styles, but also my dream kitchen! I want to work on putting design boards together with everyone in mind because I know we all like different styles and pieces. That being said, I hope you find something for yourself, and these inspire you to maybe do a little spruce! SIDE NOTE: If you want to spruce, contact me! I will now be working with clients part time! AHHH! I’m so excited!

Alright.. now onto the kitchens…

Rustic Traditional//

Living in Indiana, I know that most of us have a more rustic style, and we tend to stick to more traditional looks that goes well with that rustic/country feel. So I wanted to put together a design board with some ideas that show off how new paint, a different sink, and new hardware, can really pull your kitchen into this century.

In Indiana, kitchens can feel like the heart of the home, so don’t you want it to look it’s best?

Side Note: replacing countertops to beautiful granites or even something unique like a butcher block wood look is so fun! I know this adds expense, but if you’re going all out, keep that in mind!

Modern Boho//

We all know a more boho look is my favorite, but I like a mix of the bright colors of the boho with the blend of the modern that’s making big waves. I love that this style allows some creativity with color, but also has crisp lines and can remain simple all at the same time OR you can still stay more rustic with adding color with rugs, and more modern hardware, keeping a wood theme involved as well.

This style involves so many options, and can serve as a great look for a couple/family that can’t completely decide on one style.

Modern Glam//

I wanted to add one more style, that is unique in the sense that it pretty much sparkles! I love adding touches of glam, but these kitchens have the pieces that give you that immediate WOW-factor. For those ladies(or gentlemen) that love everything to be shiny and sparkly, very modern, and clean, this is perfect for you! These kitchen inspire me so much, I just don’t know if I could pull it off with my casual style.

Screen Shot 2016-09-26 at 1.08.37 PM.png

I hope you all are as inspired as I am, but the variety you can choose from to make your kitchen go from drab to fab!  At least it brought some beauty to your Monday!

XOXO

Smith Fall Decorations//

Happy Fall Y’all!

I’m sure some of you are haters on those of us that believe fall should start the beginning of September, but I don’t care, I love the changing season!

As you’ve heard, I’m offering help with Holiday decorating this year starting with any and all fall and Thanksgiving decorating you’d like, and ending with the big kahuna, Christmas!  I know that fall decorating can be obviously lighter than anything done for Christmas, but if you’re wanting to try out a new color scheme or style, that’s where I can help!

My mom, being the best mom she is, let me decorate her front porch area WAY earlier than she likes to just to show some simple decorations that make your front door look so inviting and festive for the season. We bought a few things and used some existing. I think total she spent around $50 on anything new, which was exactly what she asked for with budget.

Let’s check it out…

How perfect do these mustard yellow lanterns my mom had match this rug? It’s so easy to save money on holiday decorating when incorporating color’s and items you already have.

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

We found this sign first before the mat. Both are from Hobby Lobby, and all their holiday decor is 40% off right now, and I would say through the Holiday season. I love that place and their deals! I love the fall colors, but it’s a little more contemporary, rather than country rustic.

When decorating for fall OF course you need pumpkins and mums. They’re the perfect outdoor fall items to use for decorating! The lantern, fall sign and white pumpkin were all finds at Michael’s for 60% off. I know the sales are awesome! The small table that mum is sitting on, my mom already had, which went PERFECTLY with the sign and mat we found with color and style.

This is the other side of her porch, it’s a little nook of an area, and she uses this cute white bench EVERY season and just changes what is put on it and style. The style and chipped paint look is perfect to a little rustic fall in the decor.

The lantern and burlap basket of sunflowers was from last fall, but fit in nicely with everything. The only new items in this entire area are the white mum, lanterns, and pumpkins. It’s so easy to pick up some new and mix in with the old!

Overall, we both loved the new items and how everything ended up blending so well together. You’ll notice in some shots of the entire front door, there’s a burlap “Welcome” banner above the door. Another item she already had that fit in perfect!

I know fall can be easy for some, but anyone is interested in my help, you’ll find my email in the contact section. If you’d like to talk CHRISTMAS then PLEASE message me! I love decorating for Christmas, and it’s a bigger project so we’d want to get started sooner!

Happy Monday everyone!

Arhaus Patio Design Boards//

Hey everyone! So I’m super excited about this post! Anyone ever been or heard of Arhaus Furniture? Well, if you haven’t, and you live near or around me, check out the store in Indianapolis off 86th Street, you won’t want to leave!

I love Arhaus’ style and I was so excited when they asked me to design my dream outdoor space using their sectionals. I chose two of my favorites, and also fell in love with one of their dining tables, so of course I had to do a few design boards with that as well!

If you’ve never seen there product, here’s a link to their home page: http://www.arhaus.com/

Onto the designs…

Design Board One//Dining

screen-shot-2016-09-07-at-10-55-24-am

I am in LOVE with this first design board. FIRST, look at that gorgeous stone table!

(Click stone table for link to website)

I love the casual seated feel with the benches and the mixture of stone and wood tones. I decided to use a beige, gray toned rug also from Arhaus to keep a neutral feel. The accents are all from West Elm, one of my favorite design stores.

I came across the beautiful blush, gray toned faux fur blanket and used it as the basis of my color scheme. Add in the copper bar tools that can sit on the tray as a center piece and the beautiful blush pillows for the end chairs and you’ve got the perfect setting for a dinner party.

Now, who says you can’t have a plush couch outside to enjoy the evening? Arhaus knows patio living in comfort and style!

Click this link to their sectionals

I went ahead and used a lot of pieces from the Arhaus site for this style. The rug was my inspiration for a more eclectic look. The coffee table is also an Arhaus original and matches the side chair perfectly.

The accessories are a mixture of Arhaus and West Elm pieces. I found the beautiful lanterns and fun blue vases on the Arhaus website and used them as a jumping off point for the moroccan pouf and pillow scheme found from West Elm. And let’s be honest, if you’re going to be this comfortable outside you’re going to stay into the wee hours, a basket full of cozy blankets is the perfect last edition to this piece!

Design Board Three//Dining

screen-shot-2016-09-07-at-10-53-27-am

I have to say, this patio dining area is my favorite. It’s a perfect blend of neutral and crazy POPS of color with those succulents. I again used that beautiful stone and wood table from Arhaus, because it deserves to be the statement once more!

The accessories including the basket/blanket, lanterns, and natural woven jute rug are all from West Elm. The succulent is an idea I had for a gorgeous center piece to add color, I found the picture off of Pinterest, but it’s easily do-able. Find a large wooden box and fill it full! The Bohemian chandelier lanterns were my favorite find! I’ve always dreamed of a patio with an outdoor chandelier and these were the perfect blend of casual with a touch of elegance as all chandeliers add.

Design Board Four//Casual Living

screen-shot-2016-09-07-at-10-53-47-am

I love this gray color scheme! The sectional from Arhaus has such a modern feel which I love. It’s beautiful and sleek, with the perfect amount of cushion to relax.

Click the link to view this sectional on the website: Shoreline Sectional

The beautiful, dark wood fireplace is also an Arhaus original, the perfect size for a bigger seating area. And if you recognized that rug, then you’re right, it’s the beautiful gray/beige outdoor rug from Arhaus, perfect to “cozy” up the entire area.

The accessories are a mixture of West Elm and Anthropologie this time! The bar cart was the perfect sleek black to match the sectional and chair. I wanted to add some bright color since it was very gray and neutral. I found these pillows on West Elm and loved the pattern. My husband claims the colorful one looks like a 90’s sweater, but I kind of love that about it! The second one is the perfect geo pattern, but more neutral to let the other one pop! And of course, a basket of blankets for an evening that never ends!

I know, I know, summer is ending here in the midwest, but you know what the best part of that is? Summer patio sales! Check out all these pieces and more at Arhaus, most are all on sale right now! And remember them for the next big furniture purchase!

Happy Hump Day everyone, almost the weekend again!

Our Love Nest//

Yes, sometimes I refer to our bedroom as a love nest, no don’t get dirty with it people! We just love each other and it’s our bedroom! 😉

I love our sweet little bedroom, the decor turned out perfect and cozy. As I show you different parts I’ll explain what I would do if I could alter things more if we were in our own house instead of an apartment.

Enjoy!

Our Bed Nest

IMG_0700

Our bedding is the coziest duvet ever! In the winter we have a beautiful navy and white geo pattern duvet cover, but it’s very thick! I found this neutral, tan duvet at Target for $30 bucks! So glad I didn’t have to spend too much, especially because it’s ruined at this point from new puppies nails.

Sorry for the blur of a photo. blah. Our rug(target) is a cream and terracota color. A great accent color with the golds, creams, and navy!

The Headboard

IMG_0682

Our beautiful headboard was a gift from my sister-in-law Amy. She is so stinking talented! And thank goodness for father that know how to mount heavy objects, something I’m learning! It was the perfect statement piece for above the bed with the arrow theme. The Mr. & Mrs. signs were on our chairs at our wedding. I love having pieces of the perfect day surrounding us.

Headboards don’t necessarily have to be connected to the bed. It can be a unique statement piece like this, tapestries, artwork, or a normal headboard. Get crazy with the idea!

If this was our own place I would have added a plank wall behind our bed. It’s a great way to add texture to a room and color if you’re keeping a more neutral tone. The gold would really stand out.

The Wall Decor

IMG_0739

IMG_0685

I wanted pieces that represent the us starting our own story together as we move into our first place. This is the start of many wonderful years together and of course it’s my favorite love story. Then I found other pieces with gold accents to add in and a few wooden pieces for texture and a darker color on the walls.

The Other Wall

IMG_0726

The “other”, opposite wall, has my beautiful family antique dresser, a industrial style shelving unit, and a wall hanger for all my jewelry and workout hats.

If this was our own place I’d paint the rest of the walls a beige/tan color. I’d even consider on this wall or the window wall adding a pattern with the beige and navy for something fun.

The Details

IMG_0722   IMG_0751

IMG_0689

IMG_0695

My favorite part of our bedroom is the succulent accents. I love a splash of greenery and life everywhere. And, of course the vase of all the extra dino’s is the best. Reminds me everyday of what a great day that was!

If I could, I’d buy us a matching bedroom set. Something modern with a rustic edge. I’d also add a reading corner with a comfy, distressed brown leather chair underneath the modern white floor lamp we have in the corner. There’s so much more I’d do to make this room SO cozy, but for now I enjoy it’s sweet love as it is.

Our Living Room//

So throughout Facebook I’ve shared bits and pieces of our living room. It’s fun to share the different elements that make it our own.

So here is the entire living room, each wall and piece.

Within, I’ll go through the different things I would change and add if this was a home, not an apartment. Being limited can sometimes be annoying, but for the most part it looks like I wanted!

IMG_1646IMG_1642IMG_1647

Rug: Urban Outfitters

Coffee Table: Hobby Lobby

Couch: Value City

Pillows: Ikea & Target

Ideally, I would love for the couch to be planted against the wall, but due to the layout and where our cable jacks were the couch makes a makeshift wall for the living room. I usually like a more open concept, but such is life in an apartment!

For some reason, I’ve been unable to upload the full picture of our music corner, so check out my Facebook for that photo!

Record Player: Urban Outfitters

Pillows: Target

Accent Blanket: Anthropologie

Basket: Target, Nate Berkus collection

This little corner rests on a family trunk from my great grandfather. It’s cozy and warm and spices up the random living room corner perfectly.

The media corner features our dino decor!

Media/TV Stand: Vintage shop

Dino Pallet Wall Decor: Hobby Lobby

Gold Lantern: Target

Vases and Candles: Hobby Lobby

Gold Runner: Etsy

Dino Head Handles: Hobby Lobby

Industrial Shelving Unit: Ikea

Wedding Guest Book Globe; Hobby Lobby

Wall Decor: Hobby Lobby

The rest on our shelf are a mixture of wedding decorations, our many records, and books.

IMG_1649

Of course I wanted to add the cute photo of our pups, plus it shows off the rug even more!

Now onto the real question, What would I change if this was our home?

  1. Change the carpet to hardwood floors. I want a home with lots of character
  2. The main wall would most likely be painted an accent navy, instead of using the decals
  3. Overhead lanterns instead of globe lights
  4. The neutral paint tone with be a light beige or tan instead of stark, bland apartment white
  5. Get rid of the gross apartment slider blinds. I kept these hidden in pictures, but instead of blinds I’d use light, airy curtains.

Stay tuned for the next room display! Our sweet little master bedroom is easily the next one I want to shine!

Tuesday Sneak Peak//The Living Room

Hey y’all! So this week I will be posting snip its of our living room. It came together exactly how I wanted, and it’s such a cozy place for us to put our feet up after a long day.

I’ve posted the photos on social media, but let me tell you my brain process on here.

IMG_1626.jpg

This gallery look is on our main wall. It centers on the wall with some shelves to the left in the corner and then our TV unit to the right. I love the blend of items on our wall as the focal point. The photos are a mix of wedding and honeymoon, our favorite things to look back on right now.

The sunburst mirror was a random sale purchase on day at Hobby Lobby. It’s such a great statement mirror and went along with the natural and gold color scheme I have with the navy and mauve.

The “M” I also found at Hobby Lobby on sale! $7 bucks people! I bought that 5 months before we even got married, never skip a great deal if know you’ll end up using it!

The arrow, Hobby Lobby, full price, but still only $15 bucks or so and the stag/deer head was a Christmas gift(that I picked out!) That stag head I love because it brings in a nature feel. I grew up in a house with hunters, so it feels like home to me. Someday I’m hoping I get a real one!

Last, those decals! I found them on etsy! They’re completely removable and so easy to stick up. It took me 30 minutes one night to do the entire wall!

Stay tuned for the rest of the room throughout the week!

XOXO

Blue + Blush//

I hope everyone had a terrific 4th of July weekend! Although the weather wasn’t so great, we still had a great time with family.

I wanted to stick alongside the wedding trend I have going right now and show off the newest color trend I’m seeing. A lot of people are going for a more neutral palette, but when it comes to those keeping some color, the blue and blush trend is making statements. It also goes along with the 2016 Pantone colors of the year which were Rose Quartz, and Serenity which are fancy names for a rose colored pink and a light blue.

Let’s take a look at the colors within the different wedding style and design schemes, shall we?

blue:blush

The Boho Trend

I love the casual element of a boho look for a wedding. Maybe it’s just my personal preference of wanting to feel more casual and comfortable at a wedding, rather than going to something so fancy, that my dress costs more than what my own bridesmaids paid for their dresses. The best part about these colors and a sprinkle of bohemian is succulents. The succulent is the perfect way to make flowers more casual.

succ I just love how subtle that light blue(serenity) and blush blend together. So romantic.

The best part of this trend is the popular trend of the blush colored wedding dress. It’s so subtly sweet and whimsical.

Don’t forget, just because it’s casual and outdoors doesn’t mean you can’t add some sparkle! Love this blush, sequined table runner with the gold metals.

Blush and Blue Tie Affair

The best thing about these colors is that their so versatile with the style you’re going for. Although the colors are more subtle than a very formal, black tie type wedding. You can definitely dress them up if you’re wanting something more upscale, and fancy.

fancy table

The china, the single rose, the menu.. I’m swooning!

Beautiful blue and blush combo for a formal affair

The blue can be matching, or you can mix and match. I love the left photo with the what we can assume is the Maid of Honor in a glittery serenity color. Beautiful formal sparkle along with the rest of the girls.

The brushed metallic look is perfect for a more formal wedding cake. Also, note for a more formal setting, roses help “class up” any look. Another great formal flower, especially for late spring and summer is the Peony.

Blush, Blue and the Beach

Last, let’s take a look at our colors in a beach setting. Their perfectly whimsical for such a casual, open air affair!

When it comes to the beach you don’t have to do much with such beautiful scenery surrounding. A beautiful whimsical alter, some bouquets thrown here and there and you’re done!

The best part about a beach wedding is the wedding dress. You can get so unique with it! The beautiful beading. Crop tops, macrame, crochet, lace; the list could go on. Find something that blows in the wind and goes with flowers in your hair and you’re set.

Flower crowns for bridesmaid are obviously a must. Their dresses should be just as “flowy” as yours too! The pictures with them blowing in the wind will be some of your favorites. As far as flowers go, stay natural. Lot’s of greens with succulents for the blue and maybe some lightly blushed creams or whites.

Keep it simple. Keep it nature oriented. Have wood accents. This is the only type of wedding, besides a forest theme, that you can get away with using sticks or driftwood.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the Blue and Blush color scheme as well as all the different ways it can be styled. I use to think blush was so overrated, but after seeing these I think my mind has changed!

Wedding Trends of 2016//

Hey readers and fellow bloggers! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful week, I love the perfect sunny days and cooler temperatures, I could be outside all day, every day!

So I was approached to write a blog on the biggest 2016 Wedding Trends I’m seeing this season and loved that idea! I still indulge in finding all things wedding and what beautiful things people are doing this summer and fall. Wedding’s should be the perfect expression of you and your man’s personalities, and your love together.

I’ve gotta say, I am LOVING the new trends popping up. I wish I could throw a vow renewal already just so I could use them. So you’re all invited to our 6 month vow renewal/I just wanted to throw another beautiful wedding party. HA! I wish!

So let’s get started ladies, here’s all things 2016…

Greenery is the New Flower

This is one of my FAVORITE new trends. This greenery look is usually paired with a very nude color scheme of creams or whites, and green everything! These types of weddings, done right can make the guests feel like they’re in a different time. It’s whimsical, and magical. Sweet, and subtle, but luscious at the same time.

greenery

This table scheme is the perfect example of this trend done right. The gold silverware accents, succulent place card holders, and candles scattered throughout creates the perfect fairytale setting for new love and marriage.

Here are a few more pictures I found that show the beauty:

Wedding Cakes Meet Metallics

The hottest wedding cake trend last season was the naked cake, and with the right type of wedding it’s still hot! I think they’re still perfect for outdoor weddings, but I CANNOT get over this new metallic trend! These cakes are so beautiful that I almost don’t want to eat them. HA! Just kidding, wedding cake is one of my favorite things on earth!

Just check out these different colors, and styles…

metalsilverboho

What’s my favorite part about this trend you ask?! The creativity! All these cakes are SO different and you can tell they match all different types of wedding personalities. The last one’s my fave, best boho wedding cake I’ve ever seen!

When Sparkles and Neutrals Come Together

The last trend I feel everyone needs to know about is the combination of sparkle everything with a very nude, neutral pallet. I had bits of this scattered through my own wedding. I love the neutral white table cloths with bursts of sparkle within the vases, plates, and flowers. The best part of this trend, in my opinion, is the bridesmaid’s dresses! SEQUIN EVERYTHING! Paired with their nude flowers, it’s a photographer’s dream!

bridesmaidssparkletablewedding party

Most of the time with this trend you’ll see the more nude color scheme with creams, light tans, or whites, but I love this last picture with the girls in a very light blush. If you want a bit more color that’s the perfect way to go! With the white roses, it’s the perfect pair!

Also, Ladies, Check out this great website for all your wedding invitation needs!

I hope you all enjoyed the trends and day dreaming! Even the married women I know can love on these looks!

XOXO
