Smith Fall Decorations//

Happy Fall Y’all!

I’m sure some of you are haters on those of us that believe fall should start the beginning of September, but I don’t care, I love the changing season!

As you’ve heard, I’m offering help with Holiday decorating this year starting with any and all fall and Thanksgiving decorating you’d like, and ending with the big kahuna, Christmas!  I know that fall decorating can be obviously lighter than anything done for Christmas, but if you’re wanting to try out a new color scheme or style, that’s where I can help!

My mom, being the best mom she is, let me decorate her front porch area WAY earlier than she likes to just to show some simple decorations that make your front door look so inviting and festive for the season. We bought a few things and used some existing. I think total she spent around $50 on anything new, which was exactly what she asked for with budget.

Let’s check it out…

How perfect do these mustard yellow lanterns my mom had match this rug? It’s so easy to save money on holiday decorating when incorporating color’s and items you already have.

We found this sign first before the mat. Both are from Hobby Lobby, and all their holiday decor is 40% off right now, and I would say through the Holiday season. I love that place and their deals! I love the fall colors, but it’s a little more contemporary, rather than country rustic.

When decorating for fall OF course you need pumpkins and mums. They’re the perfect outdoor fall items to use for decorating! The lantern, fall sign and white pumpkin were all finds at Michael’s for 60% off. I know the sales are awesome! The small table that mum is sitting on, my mom already had, which went PERFECTLY with the sign and mat we found with color and style.

This is the other side of her porch, it’s a little nook of an area, and she uses this cute white bench EVERY season and just changes what is put on it and style. The style and chipped paint look is perfect to a little rustic fall in the decor.

The lantern and burlap basket of sunflowers was from last fall, but fit in nicely with everything. The only new items in this entire area are the white mum, lanterns, and pumpkins. It’s so easy to pick up some new and mix in with the old!

Overall, we both loved the new items and how everything ended up blending so well together. You’ll notice in some shots of the entire front door, there’s a burlap “Welcome” banner above the door. Another item she already had that fit in perfect!

I know fall can be easy for some, but anyone is interested in my help, you’ll find my email in the contact section. If you’d like to talk CHRISTMAS then PLEASE message me! I love decorating for Christmas, and it’s a bigger project so we’d want to get started sooner!

Happy Monday everyone!

XOXO

Turkey Day Decor//

I know, I know, I already posted for Christmas, but let’s take a step back to this week’s holiday, Thanksgiving! Now, I’ve never been the biggest fan of Thanksgiving for many reasons, but I do love my family, and I’m very thankful! I just love Christmas more, so sorry not sorry for jumping the gun!

When it comes to thanksgiving there isn’t much decorating like Christmas requires, but the main event is the dining table! There are so many options to use for the main center pieces for a Thanksgiving table, and of course I’ve rounded up my faves!

Check these out, and wow the in-laws coming to your table! Never hurts to rack up bonus points!

  1. White, White, White

You all knew I’d have a clean, white option! I love these white pumpkins and antlers. I’m from a hunting family, so these antlers would be the perfect addition to our table!

2. Plaid

I love this plaid, rustic table look. It has simplicity and festivity all wrapped together. Plus, plaid makes everything cozier, and after that turkey you’ll need some “cozy”.

3. Nature meets Modern

I stumbled across this photo and it just grabbed me, of course because of the gold, but also because of all the beautiful greenery! Who would have thought to make the center out of moss?! Brilliant! With all the greenery and gold and creams it’s the perfect balance to suit every ones styling needs. Plus, those gold leaf plates, heart eye emoticons!

4. Turquoise meets Fall

I love turquoise! Shades of it with mint will be in my wedding, and I love this darker turquoise table with the mixture of beautiful fall colors of reds and oranges. It’s the perfect balance of tradition and bold.

5. Gold, Gold, more gold

Of course I was going to have a table decorated in my fave! The burlap and gold is the perfect mix of rustic for the thanksgiving trends, and beautiful glam for a more fancy array. And who doesn’t love a splash of glitter?

6. Purples and Greens

Usually I end with 5 options, but this table was too perfect. I love the dark jewel tones of the purples and golds mixed with the rustic plank board table, and TONS of greens! I’m seriously obsessed with every element on this table, the plates, candles, flowers, wine bottles, ah it’s all perfect!

So here you go! Get inspired and decorate away!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! 🙂

Design Tip of the Day (#5)

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend and have ingested insane amounts of coffee to cope with the Monday’s like me. I MAY or may not be a coffee addict.

My tip of the day goes along with that comfy cozy theme for fall….

PILLOWS

Funny story: When we were registering for our wedding I might have gone slightly overboard on pillows. I think that pillows add color, texture, and warmth to a room. I love them on chairs, couches, floors, and beds. My fiance however, does not quite get why we need so many pillows. He threatens to destroy them or not let me spend a dime on worthless pillows that are overpriced. Clearly his priorities are ALL wrong.

Ladies, don’t listen to your men- accent pillows rock.

I have a few style suggestions below, along with a link to the fabulous Nate Berkus collection for Target, and a fun DIY! If you love bows, pillows, and stripes then this is the DIY Project made for you!

DIY Your Front Porch//Fall Edition

October is here which means fall decorating is in full swing. As I drive by homes, I see pumpkins sitting on front steps and DIY wreaths hanging from doors. Why don’t we all get in the spirit?!

Decorating your front door and/or porch does not have to be expensive or challenging. When you have such beautiful elements to work with, it’s pretty simple. Here is my list of easy purchases and some ways to blend them together:

  1. Apple Baskets full of fake apples or tiny pumpkins
  2. Apple Baskets or Tin tubs used as a “pot” for colorful mums
  3. Large pumpkins
  4. Straw bales
  5. DIY Indian corn wreath
  6. Cornstalks tied around porch columns
  7. Spray painted pumpkins
  8. Lanterns with candles

Below are some my finds on Pinterest, with the links of well-done fall front doors. Check out my fall board on Pinterest by clicking the icon on the right hand side of my blog for more inspiration!

Design Tip of the Day (#4)

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Brrrrr! It’s cold outside guys! I’m rocking my comfy new turtleneck sweater as you see, and it’s like wearing a blanket! Snuggled up at work with my free Pumpkin Spice Latte from the boss is just what this Friday ordered.

In honor of the colder weather and bonfire season, my tip of the day is for your lovely patio, because who doesn’t love a good Friday night spent by the fire with friends and a tasty drink in hand?

Tip of the day: Lights, lights, lights!

I’m all about “setting the mood” when it comes to parties. No one has had an amazing party in fluorescent lighting! The selfies alone would be torture! When it comes to an evening on the patio, or deck the glow of the fire is nice, but add in some globe lighting, tiki torches, and candles and you’ve set the perfect ambiance!

Hello, October//

In honor of October starting and it officially starting to feel like it, here is my current fall mood board. Not your “typical” color scheme when you think fall, but I can’t get enough of the rich gold and deep navy. Now I’m off to buy some pumpkins and spray paint//

Fall Trend Alert: Texturing & Layering

Fall is coming, and I for one am excited! I live for cozy sweatshirts, bonfires, leaf piles, and hot cider. Another great aspect of seasons, is changing your interior to fit. Fall mean layers and you can use elements to add layers to your home to prepare for the colder months! Check out my checklist below on tips for layering with texture and colors.

  1. Add blankets// Blankets are so nice to wrap up in, in the cold months, but they can also be an easy decorating tool. If you have darker colors in a room, buy a cream knit throw to drape over the furniture. If you aim for the white linen feel, find a deeper hue blanket to add some color and warmth in your room for the cold season.

2. Thick Rugs// Now everyone knows I love rugs, but in the summer they can add too much carpeting and heat when you want things to be cool. Now that it’s cooling down, look for some fuzzy rugs that feel good on your feet! My personal favorite is the natural sheepskin rugs, and you can find them at one of my fave’s, IKEA!

3. Textile wall art (aka macrame wall hangings)// For the boho hippie in all of us these macrame wall hangings are easy DIY projects and add a thick, full, colorful element to the wall. I love seeing more dimension on walls other than photos or art. These wall hangings add a free spirit to the room and can be made in so many different patterns and colors.
