Our Love Nest//

Yes, sometimes I refer to our bedroom as a love nest, no don’t get dirty with it people! We just love each other and it’s our bedroom! 😉

I love our sweet little bedroom, the decor turned out perfect and cozy. As I show you different parts I’ll explain what I would do if I could alter things more if we were in our own house instead of an apartment.

Enjoy!

Our Bed Nest

IMG_0700

Our bedding is the coziest duvet ever! In the winter we have a beautiful navy and white geo pattern duvet cover, but it’s very thick! I found this neutral, tan duvet at Target for $30 bucks! So glad I didn’t have to spend too much, especially because it’s ruined at this point from new puppies nails.

Sorry for the blur of a photo. blah. Our rug(target) is a cream and terracota color. A great accent color with the golds, creams, and navy!

The Headboard

IMG_0682

Our beautiful headboard was a gift from my sister-in-law Amy. She is so stinking talented! And thank goodness for father that know how to mount heavy objects, something I’m learning! It was the perfect statement piece for above the bed with the arrow theme. The Mr. & Mrs. signs were on our chairs at our wedding. I love having pieces of the perfect day surrounding us.

Headboards don’t necessarily have to be connected to the bed. It can be a unique statement piece like this, tapestries, artwork, or a normal headboard. Get crazy with the idea!

If this was our own place I would have added a plank wall behind our bed. It’s a great way to add texture to a room and color if you’re keeping a more neutral tone. The gold would really stand out.

The Wall Decor

IMG_0739

IMG_0685

I wanted pieces that represent the us starting our own story together as we move into our first place. This is the start of many wonderful years together and of course it’s my favorite love story. Then I found other pieces with gold accents to add in and a few wooden pieces for texture and a darker color on the walls.

The Other Wall

IMG_0726

The “other”, opposite wall, has my beautiful family antique dresser, a industrial style shelving unit, and a wall hanger for all my jewelry and workout hats.

If this was our own place I’d paint the rest of the walls a beige/tan color. I’d even consider on this wall or the window wall adding a pattern with the beige and navy for something fun.

The Details

My favorite part of our bedroom is the succulent accents. I love a splash of greenery and life everywhere. And, of course the vase of all the extra dino’s is the best. Reminds me everyday of what a great day that was!

If I could, I’d buy us a matching bedroom set. Something modern with a rustic edge. I’d also add a reading corner with a comfy, distressed brown leather chair underneath the modern white floor lamp we have in the corner. There’s so much more I’d do to make this room SO cozy, but for now I enjoy it’s sweet love as it is.

Tuesday Sneak Peak//The Living Room

Hey y’all! So this week I will be posting snip its of our living room. It came together exactly how I wanted, and it’s such a cozy place for us to put our feet up after a long day.

I’ve posted the photos on social media, but let me tell you my brain process on here.

IMG_1626.jpg

This gallery look is on our main wall. It centers on the wall with some shelves to the left in the corner and then our TV unit to the right. I love the blend of items on our wall as the focal point. The photos are a mix of wedding and honeymoon, our favorite things to look back on right now.

The sunburst mirror was a random sale purchase on day at Hobby Lobby. It’s such a great statement mirror and went along with the natural and gold color scheme I have with the navy and mauve.

The “M” I also found at Hobby Lobby on sale! $7 bucks people! I bought that 5 months before we even got married, never skip a great deal if know you’ll end up using it!

The arrow, Hobby Lobby, full price, but still only $15 bucks or so and the stag/deer head was a Christmas gift(that I picked out!) That stag head I love because it brings in a nature feel. I grew up in a house with hunters, so it feels like home to me. Someday I’m hoping I get a real one!

Last, those decals! I found them on etsy! They’re completely removable and so easy to stick up. It took me 30 minutes one night to do the entire wall!

Stay tuned for the rest of the room throughout the week!

XOXO

Style Update//

Hey Guys!

I know I’ve been literally MIA for a while. That’s what happens when you move, start a new job and finish planning your wedding. BTW WE GET MARRIED IN 18 DAYS! Crazy! Crazy Exciting!

So, I thought I’d just update you on new styles and decor items at my two favorite decor stores, Target and Urban Outfitters. I added a few links to some things on the shop page as well for you all! There are some great new summer finds that I’m obsessed with at each place, and I know you will be too!

Enjoy- and happy shopping!

  1.  Pineapple Themes

Pineapple Bowl Set($24)

Pineapple String Lights($20)

   Pineapple Candles($20)

Urban Outfitters know’s how to speak my design love language this summer season! My entire kitchen is already pineapple theme- How am I going to choose what to buy to add on!

The bowls are a perfect design add in when having company over, and those candles and string lights might just make your back porch area feel like a beach oasis!

2. Southwest/Bohemian Inspired Patio Collection

Patio Furniture, Target

Outdoor Pouf and Ceramic Tree Accent Table, Target

Wooden Planters, Target

Gold and Navy Decor, Target

I love this patio set! It’s got great furniture that’s comfortable to sit on, with such great decor to make it your own. There are several different pieces within this collection, these are just my favorite! I love those wooden planters, they really add to the boho look I tend to go for. Add in a rug as well and you’ve got a comfy place to sit all night long!

3. Summer Tapestries

stay home.jpeg

Stay Home Tapestry, UO

Window Valance Tapestry, OU

Create Gold Foil Tapestry, UO

Tapestries are a great way to add color to your walls and windows. They can act as statement pieces, be included in a gallery wall, or be used to fill that random hole you’ve had for a while. Summer is a great time to use them because they are usually overly colorful and have a more boho, fresh vibe to them!

Hope you all enjoy these sweet, summer time decor pieces! I know I have some shopping and updating to do for the season!

XOXO

Gallery Walls//

Gallery Walls are near and dear to my heart. I love how creative people can get with them, and it’s completely true that the possibilities are endless.

Our apartment is the typical beige on beige with white walls, so our gallery wall really adds to the living room decor.

The pieces are a bit more neutral as our living room is a eclectic, boho style with more neutral pieces and pops of color in rugs and pillows. I tried to choose neutral, but eye catching pieces for the wall to keep that range.

Here it is all together:

I’m sure you’re wondering where the pieces came from, here’s the breakdown…

Hobby Lobby:

Arrow Painting

Steer Skull

Feathers

Wooden Arrow

“M” Initial

Target:

White Stag Head

The LOVE letters were from my Bridal Shower, wooden and simple painted gold

The wooden board with one of my favorite sayings was a gift from a dear friend

Here are some of my tips to create a great gallery wall:

  1. Lay it Out

We’ve all been there when you just start putting things up and you step back and it looks like your 5 year old kid just told you where to put it all. Lay out all your pieces exactly how you’ll want them on the wall.

2. Tape it out

Next, take the time to measure things out on the floor and use painters tape to tape where each thing goes on the wall. I promise you won’t regret taking the time to do this

3. Choose Your Accents

You can see that the stag head and steer skull stick out there in the middle, that’s because they’re my favorite of all the pieces. I wanted to center everything around those two and work out from there. Since they’re smaller I put the larger pieces in the corners to pull the eye outwards then

The Perfect Bar Cart//

I feel like there’s nothing more classy than a well styled bar cart. Bar carts are coming back in high demand in the interior world right now, so there’s never a better time to experiment!

The great thing is, they’re so EASY to DIY. Even if you don’t drink you can still style a bangin’ bar cart to add some class and style. If you’re looking for a statement piece for your room re-do then this is perfect for you!

First, I wanted to list out the top bar carts to buy- some can transform as a DIY and some are already bar cart made and ready to style:

  1. Ikea Utility Cart, $29.99
  2. Target, Metal and Wood Bar Cart, $129.99
  3. Threshold Rattan Bar Cart, $129.99
  4. World Market, Utility/Wood Bar Cart, $169.99
  5. Ikea 3-Tier Cart, $24.99
  6. Ikea Laptop Table/Desk, $39.99

I wanted to give everyone different options of Inexpensive DIY carts, to fully ready- now let’s style them!

  1. Make sure you have your cart fully stocked!
  2. Find cute vases and or trinkets to style the cart
  3. Use your best glasses and mugs
  4. Style the tray tops to add more color and pop
  5. Find a great accent tray

Here are some examples of my favorite bar carts I’ve found. I’ll be going for a gold/white look once Chris and I are all moved into our new place. Personally, I’m DIY-ing this thing as we will be trying to fully finish an entire apartment and a styled bar cart is out of my price range. ENJOY!

Drab to Fab//

Since it’s cold, gloomy, and let’s be honest somewhat depressing around the country, I wanted to add a colorful spark to everyone’s day.

Here is my how to on spicing up your living spaces with the lousy weather outside your window….

  1. Accent Pillows

It’s so easy to just keep the same pillows because we get used their comfort, but let’s be honest, they probably look pretty ratty. Spruce up your living room with some bright pillow accents that will bring color back into your life and texture to your decor!

Target, Threshold Fur Pillows

Pom Pom

Anthropologie Pom Pillow

2. Rugs

Adding a new rug can really spruce up a room. Most rugs get worn so quickly, so think about investing in something a bit more pricey that’ll last through the traffic. Here are some beautiful rugs that would add so much to any space depending on your style.

Anthropologie Kaleidoscopic Bloom Rug

Wayfair, Sherpa Ivory Rug

3. Paint your Utensils

An easy, fun DIY project to add color to your kitchen is to paint your wooden spoons and utensils! Just tape them off, paint them, let dry and you’ve got some much needed extra color while you’re cooking!

4. New Curtains

Curtains can add so much to a room! You can pick a beautiful sheer for the sun to peek in through or a bright accent shade to really add to your decor! The choice is yours, but here are some of my current favorites!

Anthropologie Pleated, Mint Curtain

Nate Berkus, Fringed Herringbone Curtains

5. Fresh Flowers

This is the simplest option because you can go get fresh flowers even at your local grocery store! Fresh flowers don’t only add color, but they bring literal life into your home during the winter.

Here are the winter flowers currently in season:

1. Dahlias

2. Snap Dragons

3. Roses

4. Tulips

5. Ranunculus

6. Gerber Daisies

Have a great weekend loves!

Bedroom Dreamin’//

Last week I posted a mood board with ideas for our soon-to-be living room. As I finished up our registry last week I found myself switching and planning even more for all our rooms, especially our bedroom. I think having a comfortable haven as a bedroom is so key to relaxation and comfort.

So, with that being said, here are my many ideas and loves for our bedroom look. Chris is thankful as well since our bedroom is more neutral and masculine rather than paisley, and girly! 😉

Enjoy these ideas, and make the most of your day!

Designer Inspiration//Nate Berkus

Yesterday on my lunch hour I spent a good 40 minutes in Target. I was that weird person going through aisles, pulling items off shelves and literally arranging them how I would if I was at home. I was secretly hoping they’d think I was a designer or something, but really I just got a lot of stares. #noshame

One of my favorite designers, target aside, is Nate Berkus. I have always loved every line he comes out with each season. He works with a lot of neutrals which is right up my alley these days. I saw his new line in stores yesterday and I was swooning!

Nate’s new line is full of rich, luxurious gold, plaid prints, and a marbled side table I couldn’t stop staring at. These items are not only perfect to accent your home with, but also for your holiday tables! He has beautiful, geometric candle holders that can be used as center decor on a Thanksgiving table, and, plaid print dessert plates and bowls for that pie and ice cream.

All that being said- here are some photos I took of my favorites. I might go broke after seeing all these beautiful pieces to buy!
